REPAIRS

SMART Repair

A SMART repair is a quick repair to a small or medium area of the wheel. This may be the result of simply scraping the kerb. It is usually on the edge of the wheel and can take anything from 15 minutes to 1 hour to repair depending on the damage. Your wheels will be colour matched and we will have the colour on the van.

Full Face Refurbishment

A Full Face Refurbishment is a refurbishment/repair to the full face of the wheel. This may be due to extensive damage. This is still be carried out on the van at a place of your convenience and as a same day service, but will take slightly longer than a SMART repair. This can also include a colour change at no additional cost, although custom colours may incur an additional charge.

Full Wheel Restoration

Should your wheels display any of the damage shown below (i.e. Corrosion or blistering/peeling of paint or lacquer), they will be in need of a full refurbishment. Alloy wheels can corrode from inside the tyre which will cause the tyre to not sit properly on the bead. The best solution for this problem is to have the full restoration process; chemical dipping and shot blasting will take the wheel back to bare metal and then with a powder coated finish all over the wheel will be as good as new again.   This is a thorough process and your car will remain at your house on axle stands.  This is generally a 48hour turn around (not including weekends)

Diamond Cut Restoration

It’s becoming more common these days for cars to have diamond cut alloy wheels. They look great, but when damaged they can quickly become an eye sore due to “worming”. This is caused by water getting in behind the lacquer, and pushing the lacquer of the face of the wheel. Our full restoration with diamond cut service is available at £120 per wheel. The process is the same as the full restoration  above but with an addition that the wheel is also put onto the diamond cutting lathe to give it the polished/shiny silver finish on the face. Below are some examples of damage to diamond cut wheels.  This is generally a 72hour turn around (not including weekends)

Bent/Flat spotted wheel

If you have a bend or a flat spot in your wheel its usually from hitting a pot hole or the like. These can generally be repaired by removing the tyre and putting the wheel on a wheel straightening machine. The wheel is deemed to be scrap if it is buckled from the centre of the hub as it will never be able to be balanced again. It is important to know if your wheel is just bent or if indeed it is buckled; we will be able to determine this for you. Here are some examples of flat spotted wheels.

Welding repair

If you have a cracked wheel then we will be able to fix this. Provided we get the wheel early enough this can usually be done as a same day service. We do not carry welding equipment in our van. Cracked wheels usually cause a similar effect to a slow puncture and you will find your tyre going down over a few days.
